Continuing the recognition of the 100th birthday of Pinellas County, Heritage Village history lecture series presents the urbanization that transformed Pinellas County during the 1950s as developments replaced old groves and farmlands. “Home Rule” brought political power to the local level, while cold war industries fueled the vibrant economy. This free program begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 11.

Make unique seashell holiday gifts at beach library

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- Anyone who enjoys collecting sea shells is invited to join the Seashell Club and learn how to make unique holiday gifts with those treasures from the gulf.

The club makes photo frames, holiday wreaths, wall plaques, holiday ornaments and other trinkets using shells found along the beach.

The program is free and is held Thursday afternoons from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Clearwater Beach Library, 69 Bay Esplanade.

Entries sought for holiday wreath decorating contest

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The public is invited to participate in the Clearwater Downtown Development Board's 4rd Annual 'Deck the District Wreath Decorating Competition' to be held in conjunction with the Downtown Partnership's Miracle on Cleveland Street and the city's Holiday Light-up downtown.

Cash prizes of $100, $50 and $25 for first, second and third place winners respectively will be announced at the Friday, Dec. 2 downtown holiday lighting event. New prizes this year include $25 prizes for best Young Artist and Corporate wreath. Attendees are invited to vote for their favorite wreath to identify the winner of the $25 People's Choice prize.

A Day in the Life of the Clearwater Public Library System

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Libraries across the state will participate in Florida Library Snapshot Day on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Clearwater libraries will be taking pictures on Nov. 2 and will forward them to the state library. They in turn will compile statistics to forward onto the State Legislature to show support for public libraries. This is a great way to celebrate all libraries and increase awareness about library services and resources.

Pinellas students celebrate 100 years of art

Pinellas County (via PCS)-- The Pinellas County Schools Annual Administration Building Art Exhibit and Reception for students and families celebrated the district's Centennial anniversary this year.

More than 1,486 student art pieces were on display.

Since 2004, more than 10,250 K-12 student works of art have been exhibited at the administration building.
