Holiday boat parade set for Dec. 8 | Events

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- The 2012 Memorial Holiday Boat Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m.

Decorated boats are scheduled to assemble in the Mandalay Channel between Island Estates and Clearwater Beach at 6 p.m.

A half hour later, the boats will travel in and out of the local canals and arrive at Coachman Park around 8 p.m. The boats then go under the Memorial Causeway Bridge in the Clearwater Marina Channel to the judging stand at the Clearwater Yacht Club.

The best decorated boats receive prizes of cash and gift certificates donated by local businesses.

Anyone interested in joining the parade, now in its 38th year, should contact IEYC Fleet Captain Scott Sanders. 

The Island Estates Yacht Club, which sponsors the illuminated parade, says this years event honors the memory of club members Lars Waren, Vic Spoto and Doris Campbell, who died this year.
