Clearwater to hold candidates forum

Clearwater, Florida -- Voters will have a chance to learn more about candidates for mayor at a special forum set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 at City Hall.

The contenders are current councilman George M. Cretekos and newcomer Christine Marketos-Cuomo.

Current Mayor Frank Hibbard and councilman John Doran are leaving their posts due to term limits.

Two other council candidates are unopposed and will take office Feb. 13: Doreen Hock-DiPolito and Jay Polglaze.

Pinellas County, FL -- January is the month of highest blood usage by patients in Tampa Bay.   In addition, there is a critical need for more minority donors on the National Marrow Donor Program's 'Be The Match' Registry. 

Therefore, 10 News has teamed up with Bealls to sponsor the 10 News Martin Luther King Day Blood & Marrow Donor Registry Drive, on Monday, Jan. 16. 

Florida Blood Services bloodmobiles will be located at the following Pinellas Bealls store locations from noon - 6 p.m.:

The Dark Crystal at Sunset Cinema Friday

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- The Dark Crystal, the animatronics fantasy film directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, is this Friday's featured film at Sunset Cinema.

Saturday's flick is The Truman Show starring Jim Carrey and Laura Linney.

Both movies are free and can be seen from the lawn at Pier 60 Park.

As the 100th anniversary of this historic event approaches, Heritage Village welcomes the New Year with two centennial celebrations sponsored by the Pinellas County Historical Society: Pinellas by the Decades and the Pinellas Folk Festival.
