Pinellas County budget forum

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County commissioners and the county administrator will be spending quality time with the public on Wednesday, April 10, at Pinellas County’s 2014 Budget Community Forum.

It’s the community’s chance to find out more about Pinellas County programs and services and provide feedback on next year’s budget. As the county works on a strategic direction for the future, they are asking citizens to share their own vision of the community and of Pinellas County as a whole.

Clearwater, Florida -- Neighborhood associations and citizen groups in Clearwater are encouraged to hold block parties on Neighborhoods Day, Saturday, April 13.

As many as 20 neighborhoods are expected to register for the city’s Celebrate Clearwater Neighborhoods Day, an annual event that showcases the diversity and accomplishments of Clearwater’s neighborhoods.

In addition to the opportunity for social interaction at the gatherings, the parties provide a forum for residents and city leaders to communicate face-to-face.

Clearwater, Florida -- Clearwater is preparing for Frenchy's Sugar Sand Festival starting April 19.

Located just south of Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach, one thousand tons of Clearwater Beach’s world famous sugar sands will be creatively carved into the Sugar Sand Walk Exhibit, an artistic walk-through display in a 12,000-square-foot tent.

Cost of admission is $7 for Adults, $5 for Students 13 to 18 years old, and $5 for Seniors (55 & up) and Military. Children 12 & under are free.

'Each One-Reach One' & site launch to tackle foster family recruitment goals

Tampa, Florida-- Despite Tampa Bay's lead in the state for the number of newly licensed foster families, state and local officials say they are still in desparate need of willing and well-suited parents as nearly 2,000 Bay area foster children remain. 

The recent "Fostering Florida's Future"  and "1200 New Foster Parents in 12 Months" initiatives have helped the Bay area land over 150 new foster homes just this year, and DCF officials say they are rolling out two new recruitment efforts to keep the growth going.

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- Christopher Lehman, a volunteer writer with Wheelchairs 4 Kids, who is wheelchair bound due to severe juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and is blind, got to write about the organization's ribbon cutting event at their new office at 1976 S. Pinellas Ave. in Tarpon Springs.

Sign up now for 2nd annual Pedaling for Pink event

Pinellas County, Florida -- Time is running out to sign up for Viva Las Chicas 2nd annual bike ride Pedaling for Pink on March 2 to help raise money to help Tampa Bay families affected by a cancer diagnosis.

The one-day ride through Pinellas County will include a 5-mile, 32-mile, and a 64-mile route.

The bicycling event is designed for families and diehard riders alike, with something for everyone. It is a day to celebrate life with loved ones, friends, and hopefully, new acquaintances!
