The program offers practical training for staff responsible for creating successful affordable housing and community based real estate development programs.

This month’s focus is the HOPE (Home Ownership for People Everywhere) Expo, coming to the Raymond James Financial Center on Saturday, June 8, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The expo offers a vast amount of information on home ownership, as well a daylong HomeBuyer Workshop. Tampa real estate booming; leads state

Tampa, Florida-- The numbers are in, and they are up! More homes were sold last month in the Tampa Bay area than in in the past seven years combined.

According to MLS figures, 3,100 homes were sold in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties last month, a 7 percent increase compared to the same month in 2012.

Home sales prices also increased, up 22 percent over the same time period. 

The average home in the Tampa Bay area sold for $150,000.

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Tampa Bay Fair Housing Consortium will present Housing Choices, Free of Discrimination on Friday, April 19.

Check-in is at 8 a.m. The program runs from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The day-long conference will be held at the Centre Club, 123 S. West Shore Blvd. in Tampa.

Ice cream parlor eyes north beach location

Clearwater Beach, Florida - A spot of land vacant for more than 20 years may become the home of the beach's newest store.

An ice cream parlor by the name of "Da Scoop" plans to locate at 22 Bay Esplanade, between the Palm Pavilion Inn and the Hess Station on the north beach.

A building permit is under review by the city, and some preliminary site work is already underway.

New high rise hotel planned for south Clearwater beach

Clearwater, Florida - A new 15-story hotel is being planned on the spot where the Adam's Mark hotel once stood.

The city confirmed today that Ocean Properties plans to build a 230-room hotel with a bar, restaurant and five-level parking garage on South Gulfview Boulevard.
