Super Tuesday hours offered for residential building permits

Pinellas County, Florida-- In an effort to assist more people, the Pinellas County Department of Building and Development Review Services has extended its hours.

The BDRS office, on the third floor of 440 Court St. in Clearwater, is now open every Tuesday until 6:30 p.m., with a focus on issuing residential building permits.

The current schedule of BDRS hours is: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the first Wednesday of each month from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

May 5 has just become a comic book lover's dream because on Saturday, May 5 comic book shops across the U.S. are giving away comic books for free!

Since it began, Free Comic Book Day has given out over 23 million free comics to nearly 6.5 million people. 

This year's list of free comics includes mainstream titles such as: Star Wars, Spongebob, Donald Duck, Transformers, Buffy, The Smurfs, Spider-Man, The Avengers and many more!

Public meeting scheduled for Clearwater's 2nd Reverse-Osmosis Water Plant

Clearwater, Florida -- The City of Clearwater is expanding its water system to improve the future of our water. Plans are currently underway to build the city's second reverse osmosis water treatment plant.

The facility, which will be located at 21133 U.S. Highway 19 N., will treat brackish water using state-of-the-art technology to produce additional potable water for Clearwater customers. This project will impact all residents.

Pinellas County’s Department of Justice & Consumer Services joins with federal, state and local government agencies and consumer protection organizations to announce the 14th annual National Consumer Protection Week March 4 to 10. This coordinated consumer education campaign encourages individuals across the country to take full advantage of their consumer rights.

Pinellas County, Fla. -- An additional property tax exemption of up to $50,000 is available for qualified senior citizens in 23 municipalities and Unincorporated Pinellas. The amount varies by taxing district and is based on the total household income received in 2011. The deadline to apply is March 1.
