Roundabout work nearing completion

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- The work is almost done on the beach roundabout.

Crews have been working nights since Sunday, milling the existing pavement and putting town a new layer in the roundabout and its approaches.

Traffic has been down to one lane or temporarily stopped during the work.

The project - including lane spriping - should be completed by the weekend.

The Pinellas Transit Alternatives Analysis Team, in partnership with Pinellas County, held its fourth eTownHall Jan. 18, in the final phase of its study on the future of Pinellas County’s transit.

This virtual, telephone, and televised event focused on light rail transit, the study recommendation for a transit project connecting St. Petersburg to the Greater Gateway area and Clearwater, with a regional connection across Tampa Bay to Hillsborough County.

The event runs from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. During this time, traffic delays are possible.

Roundabout to be resurfaced Sunday night

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- The roundabout is getting a facelift next week.

The city is resurfacing the beach entryway starting 7 p.m. Sunday. The work - milling and resurfacing - will be done during the night hours, and should be completed by Friday morning.

"This is routing maintenance to the roundabout's pavement that will extend the life of the roadway, which is 12 years old," said Tara Kivett, the city's Construction Manager.
